The Cherrick Center for the Study of Zionism, the Yishuv, and the State of Israel offers scholarships to doctoral students in the broad and interdisciplinary field of Israel Studies. This includes history, cultural history, arts, literature, folklore, anthropology, sociology, international relations, law, gender studies, communication, education, minorities in Israel (across all aforementioned disciplines), and more. Chronologically, the center's research mandate spans approximately 150 years, beginning with early political Zionism in the last third of the 19th century.
The scholarship is available to doctoral students in Stage B only. The criterion for receiving the scholarship is academic excellence and research progress relative to the time of approval of the research proposal.
The scholarship amount is 32,000 NIS per academic year. The funds will be disbursed in three installments throughout the academic year.
Scholars of the center will be allocated an office at the university, where they are expected to work for at least two days a week, maintain their ongoing research activities, and participate in the joint activities of the Cherrick Center.
