Shiran Tayeb Elmakias is married to Adiv and the mother of Hallel, Atay, and Alma. She is a doctoral student at the Paul Baerwald School of Social Work and Social Welfare at Hebrew University. Her PhD dissertation, supervised by Professor John Gal, examines the conceptual evolution of 'economic need' among policymakers and policy implementers in Israel during the 1960s and 1970s. Shiran has a bachelor's in social work from Tel Aviv University and a master's in public policy and governance from Hebrew University. Her thesis, under the supervision of Professor Momi Dahan, examined whether ethnic origin correlates with the voting tendencies of Knesset members in social legislation. Shiran's research focuses on the historical investigation of the conceptual principles that influence and lead society policy in the realm of poverty.
