MA scholarships

The Cherrick Center for the Study of Zionism, the Yishuv, and the State of Israel, in cooperation with KKL-JNF Institute for the Study of Zionism and Settlement, offers scholarships for MA and PhD students whose research addresses topics related to Zionism and the State of Israel.

The scholarships are awarded for research in the humanities and social sciences, including interdisciplinary studies, ranging from history, art, and literature to sociology, education, and international relations etc.

Students whose work deals with these themes, as well as with related subjects in Israel and in the Jewish diaspora, are invited to apply.

Eligible research may address the period from the emergence of Zionism in the last third of the nineteenth century until today, including the development of modern Jewish identity and national ideas, through the history of the Yishuv, and up to the broad field of Israel Studies, including the history of the State of Israel, its culture, and its diverse society, among other related topics.

The scholarship for master's students is intended for those who have already formulated a research topic and direction and require the center's support to devote time to research. The criterion for receiving the scholarship is academic excellence.

The scholarship amount is 12,000 NIS per year. The funds will be disbursed in three installments throughout the academic year.

Scholars of the center will be allocated an office at the university, where they are expected to work for at least two days a week, maintain their ongoing research activities, and participate in the joint activities of the Cherrick Center.
